We’ve gathered the funniest acts of the Basel comedy scene - newcomer and established, dark and dirty, funny and hilarious - all to make you laugh on a Thursday night!

The NoBorder Café opens every Sunday with coffee, tea, sweets and more.

Invitation to a beautiful place, every Sunday from 12 to 17h. Sure*Tu's NoBorder Café on Freiburgerstrasse on the edge of the forest, very close to Bässlergut prison and the federal asylum centre, is becoming an increasingly important meeting place for people with and without refugee experience.

In April, the No More Committee in Basel is showing the "Why me?" exhibition on racist police checks.
In various shop windows spread throughout the city, affected people talk about their personal experiences. They talk about what happens during identity checks, talk about the emotional consequences and articulate their wishes and demands on society.

Is this anything funny? Every comedian asks themself this question while writing jokes.

"Is This Anything?" offers four comedians 10-20mins of stagetime every Sunday to try out new jokes and perfect old ones. Comedians from all over Switzerland come to perform here! And they all ask you, the audience: is this anything?

The show is free entry with donations at the end, which go directly to the acts.

Snippet is a biennial live feature festival. It offers local and international artists a platform to produce their audio pieces live. This gives the audience a direct insight into the creation process of contemporary and sonically
sophisticated audio productions.

The festival promotes the practice of active listening and sees it as a contribution to a diverse society with the joy of debating. The Snippet festival program brings together a curated showcase of experimental audio features. Thematically, the contributions cover a broad spectrum, with artists from a wide range of fields such as acting, sound art, music, anthropology, poetry, performance art and coding.

Léo & Amix sing contemporary stories in French with a lot of tenderness, anger or irony.
The critical lyrics find their energy in social bonds. Musically, thoughtful moods are followed by rocking energy.
The first album "Silence" was released in January 2024 with their own screen print.

With a cultural and political program, we want to offer a prelude to this year's 1st of May, create a place for exchange and education and give each other a strengthening moment in the fight for a better world!

In addition to food and drinks, there will also be many information stands at the festival. Here you will have the opportunity to get to know revolutionary groups and projects from Basel and stock up on information material.

Marxist perspectives on the climate crisis with Laura Meschede 14:00

"Climate struggle means class struggle!" Good, but what does that actually mean? What is the connection between capitalism and climate destruction? And what strategic conclusions do we need to draw from this? Journalist Laura Meschede has been working on a Marxist perspective on the climate crisis for years and is herself active in the Munich Anti-Capitalist Climate Meeting.
When the Bosch plant in Munich was to be closed under the pretext of climate protection, the comrades of the Climate Meeting joined forces with the factory workers and fought shoulder to shoulder against greenwashing and the capitalist logic of profit. Laura will talk about this labor struggle and about the analysis and perspective of a revolutionary climate movement.

Learn from S.I. COBAS 3:30 pm
The grassroots union S.I. COBAS is shaking up the logistics sector in Italy. Their goal is not a social partnership deal, but to organize in the companies in order to build effective counter-power. With collective, determined struggles, they are teaching the bosses to fear.
A delegation of striking workers from Florence reports on their experiences and methods. We can learn from this for our grassroots work and at the same time find starting points for solidarity. Because the production chains are international and so must be our organization!

Community of squatted Prosfygika 5:00 pm

The "Community of squatted Prosfygika" is a self-managed neighborhood in the heart of Athens that has been squatted since 2010. In the eight blocks of the neighborhood, 400 people live together in a mosaic of different cultures and ethnicities of the oppressed class, within which the residents organize their coexistence and political struggle based on the needs of the community.
The Prosfygika neighborhood is a practical response to the social and economic conditions into which our class has been forced and thus part of the international class struggle. Internationalism and confederalism, as well as influences from the Kurdish freedom movement, are central to the community's common ground.
Comrades from Prosfygika will present the project, talk about the structures on the ground and the political perspectives of their form of organization.

While his songs are repeatedly blocked by Instagram and YouTube, the Tamil rapper Kathiravan fights tirelessly with the mic and strong, political tracks for a liberated Tamil Eelam.

Sorah
Berlin rapper Sorah brings us raw, political rap in English, French and German. From stage to stage, from street to street, Sorah never stops spreading empowerment! Nique la police et vive la lutte feministe!
