What we're collecting money for
In April 2023, activists occupied the "Rümi" to prevent the construction of a rubble dump in Zurich's Rümlanger Wald forest. At the cost of 6,000 healthy trees, the rubble resulting from Zurich's gentrification is to be dumped there.a few weeks later, the police cleared the forest occupation with a completely disproportionate force.

The Zurich cantonal police now want to pass on the costs of the operation to the activists who are fighting the capitalist destruction of biodiversity. By passing on these costs, the police are imposing a penalty before a court has even found people guilty. This approach violates the presumption of innocence and threatens to set a precedent that could serve as a template for future cost transfers for various legitimate forms of protest. This is a threat to the right to freedom of assembly and freedom of expression.

Especially in times of multiple crises, we must protect this! The activists are not simply putting up with this - they have therefore lodged an objection and are legally defending themselves against the passing on of costs. This passing on of costs must be prevented. That is why we have decided to support the activists with a solidarity party!
